Prague in One Day

An editorial, self-guided walking route from Hradčany to Rudolfinum, with 10 stops, a route map and realistic time for photos and lunch.

Editorial review:

How much fits into one day?

10 distinct stops including Waldstein Garden, Vrtba Garden and the Lennon Wall. Allow about 4 hours 30 minutes: 75–90 minutes walking, 150 minutes for visits and photos, and a 30-minute food break at Kampa. An 11:00 start finishes around 15:15. Check garden opening and admission; closed gardens shorten the route. Castle interiors, museums and queues need extra time.

Choose between interiors and extra walking

A castle visit, museum or organised tour needs its own time allowance. If one is essential, shorten the outdoor route rather than squeezing it into a lunch break. Check the official ticket conditions and leave time for queues, security checks and getting to the entrance.

A shorter and gentler alternative

Start in Malá Strana, continue to Kampa and cross Charles Bridge to Old Town Square. Skip the castle hill and the final Josefov detour. Cobbles and crowded streets still require care; ask venues about step-free access instead of assuming this walking route is fully accessible.
